How long is your foot? (Measurement in the Middles)

Today in Maths, Middle N measured the length our feet. Our learning intention was to measure the length in centimetres also known as cm.We had to choose 10 people from our class and measure the length of their foot. After we measured 10 people we answered four questions. After we collected the data we made a graph sorting our data by foot size.
Tips for good measuring!
When you measure you always start measuring at zero. If your ruler only has millimetres just cover up the last zero. That is because there is 10 mm in 1 cm. If measuring a foot like we did then put the zero on your ruler on the heel of the foot.
The difference of the biggest and smallest foot was six centimetres. The range is 19cm to 25cm.
Middle N enjoyed it.We all had lots of fun!

Children's Book Festival 2013

On Thursday 21st March, the children in Grade 3 and 4 went to the Children's Book Festival. We travelled into the city by train and then walked to the library. We worked with Bronwyn Bancroft. We saw a play by the 'Story Thieves'. After that we had a look through the Library. My favourite part of the day was making the collage.

How do celebrations help us to learn about ourselves and others?

Last week, we were discussing celebrations that we celebrate with our families or that we had been a part of. We made a list of celebrations that we have heard about and sorted them into groups - personal celebrations, national celebrations, religious celebrations, state celebrations and global celebrations. Then we thought about what we would like to discover about celebration stories. Here are our wonderings. (To see all comments, scroll hand over green background.)
